James Island
James Island is an island in the Gambia river, approximately 30 km from the river mouth and near to Juffureh. The Gambian name of the island is Kunta Kinteh Island. Fort James is located on the island.
James Island presents a testimony to the main periods of encounter between Africa and Europe along the Gambia River. The island is significant for its relation to the beginning of the slave trade and its abolition.
Georgetown (two day tour)
This excursion takes you 300 KM into the Gambia and gives you the chance to experience the real Gambia.
You will be picked up from your hotel very early in the morning, and we will cross the Gambia River to the city of Barra, from here we will continue our journey to Georgetown.
In Georgetown we will visit a local family, stop by a local market, you will get to see some old statues, and if we get lucky some hippo's.
Fathala Reserve Senegal
This trip is for the early birds :)! We will pick you up around 6:15.
To reach the Fathala Reserve in Senegal we need to cross the Gambia River, which we can cross by ferry, or a bit more adventurous, by the local boats. When we get to the other side of the river we will reach a town called Barra. From there we will continue with a jeep to the border of Senegal. From there on it is just a twenty minute drive to the Fathala Reserve, during the safari you can see: Giraffe's, Zebra's, Reino's, Antilope, Wild Pigs, Hyena's and a lot more that the wildlife has to offer.
